Are You Alone?
In the astronomical world, a question that is commonly asked is if we are alone in this universe–in other words, if earth is the only planet in the universe that sustains life, or if there are others. But what if I asked you if you were alone in this universe? I’m sure most of us have thought about this seemingly strange idea sometime or the other, but only recently did I hear someone speak about this in an extremely clear and scientific way. Sure this idea is certainly not unique–any eastern religion revolves around this very issue. However, Steve Pavlina approached this in a scientific manner and it made a lot of sense to me.
Basically, ask yourself this–have you ever perceived anybody else’s consciousness? You can see, hear, smell, touch, and even taste others, but have you ever perceived their consciousness? If the answer is “yes”, please let me know (actually, don’t, because I should stay away from you!). If you have never perceived anybody else’s consciousness, then how do you know for a fact that they do have a separate consciousness? How do you know that everything outside you is not simply a simulation created by your consciousness? I know that you are thinking that I am crazy. But if you truly want to approach this scientifically, then you must be open-minded to the possibility of something that you cannot prove.
When you get a chance, do listen to Steve’s podcast on “The True Nature of Reality.”
