about
Swami is originally from Chennai, India where he lived until he was 11, and then moved to a beautiful country in the warm heart of Africa called Malawi. After completing his high school, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona (after a short stay in Hattiesburg, Mississippi) where he attended college at Arizona State University. Swami still lives in Phoenix, develops software for a living, lives with a lovely wife, and seeks the bliss of spiritual realization. Quite evidently, he hasn’t reached his spiritual goals yet. A good part of his mad monkey mind is occupied by ego feeling the need to express, create, reflect, and share his perspective of life with others. As a result, his thoughts and opinions form a major part of his sense of identity and individuality, strengthening the separateness from his brethren. Unfortunate, but true. One day he hopes that he will realize the oneness of life, that his outward expressions become inward reflections, and finally give up the need to blog. When that happens, well, you will probably not know.
Swami hopes that you will gain something from reading his humble insights, but most of all, he hopes to learn from you through your comments and criticisms. Swami’s favorite subjects are religion, spirituality, philosophy, music, and self development, explored through the lens of science. He believes in God as well as in science and hardly places a distinction between the two. Einstein said, “religion without science is blind, science without religion is lame.”
Swami is married to a beautiful and loving girl, Mala, who successfully chisels away his ego day by day, helping him to achieve many lifetimes of inner growth in a short period of time. Mala is a Public Health major, a glorious singer with a gifted voice, a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, and a seeker of Truth. Swami is the only son of two wonderful people, Mallika and Venkataramani, who have devoted their entire lives to sharing pure, selfless, and unmatched love with their son. Swami can do nothing to give back what he received and will be eternally indebted to them. Swami’s role-models are Soumya and Panchanathan, who have been a constant guide and mentor during every milestone of his personal, spiritual, and career development. They are both hard-working, intelligent, humble, and kind, and inspire young adults and adults alike to strive for excellence in all aspects of life. Swami’s Guru and God is Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the living embodiment of love, who has been aptly described as “Love walking on two feet.” He is an incarnation of God, born in 1926, will live on Earth till 2021, and has taken birth to save humanity from the perils of non-righteousnesses that is much too evident today. He is beyond the capacity of our senses, and thus cannot be understood by verbal explanations and descriptions. You cannot know the Knower of all that is known. You can only experience Him.
So what’s the deal with the name “Lambodhara?” Lambodhara is one of many names ascribed to the elephant-faced God of the Hindu pantheon, Lord Ganesha, popularly known as the remover of obstacles. Lambodhara in sanskrit means “pot-belly.” Lord Ganesha has a pot-belly, symbolizing that He consumes everything that is given, good and bad, without resistance, indicating to us that we must accept whatever comes our way, pain or pleasure, and derive bliss from simply living in the moment. Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you, Swami is known as Lambo, short for Lambodhara, in his family. Hence, the name of this blog.
